When I was young, I loved looking at the wonderful range of colourful and fragrant soaps at market stalls never thinking I would ever have the chance to make my own. As I got older I did experiment with soap making. At that time the only recipes were for animal fat and caustic soda. The resulting soap was useable but nothing like what I remembered seeing at the markets. About 10 years ago, the local library had their annual book sale and I happened to pick up a book on soap making for $2 and the rest is history as they say. It took me a couple of years to work out a recipe that I was happy with and I've been having fun  (mostly) ever since. I use only vegetable oils but not Palm Oil and all my soaps are Paraben free and SLS free. I use medical grade fragrant oils and food grade colouring.
